RE: front rotors 2002 sebring

1. jack up car.
2. remove wheels.
3. on the back of the calipers there are 2 bolts which hold the top of the caliper to the bottom, should be like a 10 or 12 mm bolt...it SHOULD NOT remove the entire caliper, it makes it much harder..you dont want to remove the caliper bridge yet, just the top part, which holds the pads in.
4. remove pads
5. remove two large bolts holding the bottom part of the caliper (bridge) in place..should be a larger bolt, like a 17 or 18 mm, i believe...
6. the rotors may be galded on...if the rotors are junk, just hit the outer edge of the rotor with a hammer..it may break the rotor, but if its junk, it doesnt matter....if you are removing the rotor to machine it, try striking the rotor with solid hammer blowns on the hat of the rotor, between the wheel studs, this generally does not damage the rotor.

On my first brake job with my 2002 Sebring, my mechanic taught he would just have to maintain the rotors as usual. They were bent. Chrysler used cheap chinese rotors and they were so thin, they bent. I replaced them with genuine USA Mopar Rotors and never had a brake problem since. If you want to maintain a good running Sebring, find 1 honest mechanic. Don't go to Costco, Mavis or Goodyear to save on a brake job. They will put on brakes with the bent rotors. One month later, you will need new brakes. This year marked an anniversary. I have 52, 400 miles on a garaged Sebring. My cost this year, only oil changes. You need a good honest mechanic who does what is needed and does not do what is not needed.
