Hard to remove transmission pan

1 Attachment(s)
Hi every one! This is my first posting here. I ave a 2004 Sebring sedan with the 2.7L V6 and automatic transmission. I was going to change the transmission fluid & filter. I loosened all the bolts on the pan and could not get it to budge! It looks like they used some RTV stuff at the factory to put it on. I tried hitting it with a hammer with a block of wood in between to keep from denting it. It was getting late, so I gave up and retightened the bolts. Does anyone who did this before have any suggestions how to loosen this thing? I was wondering about using my gasket scraper and finding an area where I could place it in between the pan and the mounting surface, and gently tapping it in order to separate the pan off the transmission. I would appreciate any ideas! Thanks in advance!

remove all bolts but 2 at one corner loosen them . then smack it hard with a rubber maillot or hammer. Then at the end with out the bolts use a flat head screw driver to pry it apart. Yes use RTV when putting it back on also make sure u clean off the surface to both parts.

Thanks for the info Chrysler Tech! I need to get a new rubber mallet first.
I just hope I don't "Take a shower" when this thing lets loose!
