Excessive Oil Consumption
I’m actually writing this for a friend. Has a 07 300 with V6. This car uses approximately 1.5 quarts of oil every 3000 miles. Upon reviewing his service records this has been accruing since the car was new. The dealer sealed the engine and confirmed the excessive oil consumption then told him that this was normal.
I’m an ASE master truck tech and also ASE automotive machinist. Have been for over thirty years. I do not profess to be a Chrysler engine expert, but that oil consumption is way out of line for any engine. I have recommended him contact Chrysler and BAR. The dealer has refused to repair the engine or replace it. To me this is a very poor testimony for Chrysler.
So if someone on this forum could advise us who to contact at Chrysler over this matter we would really appreciate it. I personally feel this is dealer neglect and not a reflection of Chrysler Corp. Thanks of any advice.
