Key Fob is Confused

2005 Pacifica/Touring/Loaded:

Neither key will open or lock the car with the fob/remote from outside the car. This happened all of the sudden. I tried over and over, but nothing.

If I sit inside the car it will work. Locks and unlocks the car, opens the tail gate. When the car is locked, the red light under the nav system blinks rapidly. I think this is new as I don't recall it blinking (or blinking that rapidly before).

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Steve

RE: Key Fob is Confused

Consult your owner's manual for the fob reset procedure, or go to the dealer and have them do it. Before resetting, replace your batteries in the fobs.

Hopefully that will solve the issue.

If not, you can try disconnecting both battery terminals and touch them together. That is a method of resetting many of your electronic devices, but I don't recommend it for just the fobs. Try the fob reset procedure first.

RE: Key Fob is Confused

The fact that they work inside the car makes one suspicious of the battery strength, although my experience with fob batteries is that they last a long time.
As Irandeel suggests, try the programming procedure in the owners manual.
Sort of like the old adage: When all else fails, try reading the instructions.
