Mist coming from AC ducts
 

I have a 1995 Lebaron GTC conv.With 106K,auto.6cyl.When I first turn the ac on,it`s fine.About 5 to 10 minutes later a mist starts to come from the ac ducts.this lasts about 10 to 20 minutes.Then it stops.It does not affect the ac it stays cold through this mist.Anyone have an idea is to what causes this and how to fix it? Thanks

Mist or a "Fog" sounds like a low Refrigerent charge to me. Although still cold a short evaporator will start to frost. Also slow fan speed of dirty coil. Have the Dealer put the ole gauges on it and see. All it takes is a few onces short to cause this problem. Glenn

Hope I am not too late on this one. When you've got a mist like you describe, it's either a heater leak (and there would be a smell of the coolant) or the condensation building up on the evaporator isn't draining properly.

If you're not having a low coolant problem, I would suggest that the evaporator drain is plugged. It's usually fixed pretty easily. You know the drip you see behind the passenger front tire when the A/C is on? That's the condensatino dripping off the A/C evaporator. There is a tube at the bottom of the evaporator case. They get plugged with dirt and debris. You can 'gently' push a rod (like a coat hanger wire) up that tube to clear it.
