throttle issue

Did a tune up on a 97 sebring convertible. (plugs, wires, cap and button) Had no idea what a PIA it would be, having to remove intake manifold and throttle body to access plugs and cap. After getting all back together, took it for a test drive only to discover a throttle sticking issue. When I put it in R, it started to take off w/o giving it gas. Highway speed, went to let off gas and car stayed at a constant speed, almost felt like it was accelerating on its own. Did this for approximately 200 yards before starting to decelerate(all w/o my foot on gas pedal! While working, it was necesssry to remove throttle cable and transmission kickdown cable. Is it possible line was pulled too hard or stretched out of place? I used wd40 on throttle and cable, but did no good. Advice? Insight? What went wrong? Thanks in advance.

Go back and check your work again, you may have caused the throttle cable or linkage to bind up a little. Take a peek into the throttle body to see if it's gunked up in there. If so, get some throtle body cleaner and clean it out.

I made sure to check throttle body while I had it off. was going to clean it however it wasn't bad at all, plate was nice and clean. When you say linkage cable may have bound up? Cable appears like it did before I messed with it. traced it back to firewall, no kinks. Is it possible I pulled too hard while removing it? If so how can I fix it? thanks again.
