90 New Yorker headlight problems

Good evening folks,

I'm new to this forum so please bear with me. I recently purchased a 1990 New Yorker Fifth Ave for the bargain price of $950. Seemed like a good purchase on the test drive, but after I got it home I discovered a problem. The low beams only work occasionally. High beams work fine. Last week I replaced the turn signal switch but no difference. Low beams run on fuses, so them working occasionally can't be the problem. There is a relay under the hood labeled "lamps". Don't know if that could be the problem. Today I got in the car to work on it and the battery is completely dead. Started fine when I bought the car but it won't even begin to take a charge now. My thought is I've got a bad ground somewhere. Anyone have any ideas?

My mistake. There is no relay labeled "lamps", just a 50A fuse.

I think you should tell this problem about the car to that person from whom you have buy it.

could be a lot of things. Try cleaning ground connections to lights. Then check all connections. One thing that goes bad you didn't mention is the light switch itself. The one you pull out to turn lights on. They do go bad from use.
If you a vom and can use it or just simple test light probe and know how to use it comes in handy.
