Help Disable Factory Alarm 1990 NY 5th Avenue
 

I bought a 1990 chrysler new yorker 5th avenue mark cross car and the alarm goes off sometimes. The key switch is fussy and I have a hard time disabling it. Is there any remote I can buy? can I place a toggle switch? how can I bypass this

I have done this to all of them I owned. Take off drivers or passenger front door cover. There is a wire going to the door lock. It works by grounding out the alarm when you unlock the door. Most of the time the switch on the lock breaks and doesn't work after so many years. I then just put in a toggle or rocker switch and hide it under the door carpet. connect the wire that went to the door lock to the switch and ground the other side. Now if you want to disarm the alarm just switch it to ground out the wire. If you want the alarm activated just turn switch to unground the wire. In the alarm mode if you unlock the door the alarm will go off so you need to be ready to hit the switch to ground it. as soon as it grounds it will stop the alarm. Thats why I always put it on the drivers door.
