86 lebaron charging issue
Alternator tests at 14.6 volts, both computers new, charges only 12-13 volts at battery and will drop into discharge if not trickle charged at night. Any ideas?

Sounds like you've got a short somewhere in the car. Start by checking for current flow with the key off. Should be less than about 0.050 amps. (Clock and remote unlock receiver draw a little current).
Then pull fuses one at a time until you isolate the bad circuit. Then trace down what is on the bad circuit until you find the short. This is not rocket science, it just takes patience and a logical approach. The car is 30 years old so it could be just about anything: a chafed wire or bad component or accident damage or an aftermarket modification. |
