Chrysler VES DVD Remote Control

I just bought a Chysler voyager and the Chrysler VES DVD Remote Control is missing. Ive been told that i can get the system to work without the remote but at the moment the screen says that the dvd is reading but nothing happens. does anyone know whether i actually need the remote and if so then where can i get from other than from the main dealer? Thanks
