i have a 1999 cirrus lxi v6 it has a couple problems and i dont know what to do.

1st problem.. when i start it the idle goes up and down checked for vacuum leaks none took everything apart no leaks..

2nd. while driving just maintaining speed it shudders and runs crapy

3rd. has no power it pretty much just bogs when trying to get up to speed

what is it parts for this car are expensive ive already sunk hundreds into it and cant afford a new car i need to figure out whats wrong with it..

 

codes in the computer?

 

first off thank you for your reply.. it has no codes i just went out started it let it run for about 5 minutes and it died and wont start now.. this car is five minutes from a sludge hammer party..

 

when you say codes in the computer u mean check engine light right?

 

the light does not have to be on to have codes in the PCM U will need a good scanner to hook up to it and see whats going on.

 

just went out pulled a couple plugs theyre getting zero spark. and theyre soaked with gas where do i start? wires? distributor cap?

 

prob a whole new distributor assembly if u have a 2.5 engine

 

so i changed the wires plugs distributor assembly.. the car started at first and ran excellent but the i drove it and its driving like crap bucking and stalling but it did throw a code p1391 crank position sensor do u think this will fix it? i dont want to put another dime in this car unless i know its gunna work..

 

U want a fix all style answer and that will not happen.
I have no way of knowing if u did the job correctly or broke something else in the process or if the crank sensor is the currant issue.

 

i out in a new cps and it isnt throwing the code for it know.. its throwing a code for the ignition coil #1 so im going to get a new distributor
