shifing issues

Hi all, new to this forum thing. I've been away from Mopar as a daily driver for sometime. Recently I purchased a 2015 300 AWD with the 3.6 engine. In the morning when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd for the first time it feels like it slips into 2nd. The engine revs up and I see that on the tachometer. After the first shift it is fine. I've been told the 8 speed transmissions typically down shift hard when coming to a stop. I'm not a big fan of that, but recently I was coasting down a long winding hill on a country road around 20 mph and the car down shifted without notice. I'm not sure what gear it dropped into, but the tach rev'ed up to around 3000 rpms, and we lunged forward. I had to give the car gas to get it to shift back to the upper gear. Afterward letting of the gas it did it a 2nd time. I've also been told this is typical by a local dealership. Any thoughts or help will be greatly appreciated.
