2000 Town and country 3.3 over heat issue

Hi all I have a 2000 Town and country, it over heats while idling and no heat comes out the vents, but when you raise the rpm to 1500 or higher the temp goes down and heat comes out the vents. There has been no work done on this van in two years the water pump is two years old, any thoughts ? Thanks in advance for your help.

low coolant

Hi KKeller thanks for the reply, the radiator has plenty of coolant. I have been told that there is air in the system but the system hasn't been opened up for two years. I took the radiator cap off and let it run at idal the coolant just boils out but raising the rpm the engine cools down. If the radiator was plugged it wouldn't matter what rpm the engine was running it would still over heat right?

wont be air in the system unless there is a leak. its a sealed system what collor is the coolant ? Muddy looking or good and green?

Hi Kevin thanks for the reply well the coolant let me fill you in on the coolant, first off what does bars leak do to a cooling system? This van has bars leak in it. Why? good question I was instructed to do so when I had a timing chain cover issue. So the coolant seems thick, is it to thick? I don't know, so in your oppenion what does bars leak do to a cooling system? The Van has 134000 miles on it and is 15 years old, would this stuff cause a radiator to clog up? How mutch heat will these engines take? The wife got it hot and there is no coolant in the oil yet.

its suppose to stop small leaks which it ends up clogging ports all over so yeah that could be part of the issue. Coolant 50 50 suppose to flow like water.

Hi Kevin well your right the radiator was clogged up so it was replaced and the bars leak was flushed out, now all is well. Thank you for your help, take care and I hope you have a happy and safe thanks giving.
