92 Lebaron Lx won't start after sitting for several years...

Hey my brother in-law just got his mothers old 92 lebaron lx. I offered to help try and get it started, come to find out it has been sitting for 7 years!!! So I've started with the basics, changed the oil, sparkplugs/wires, air filter, and battery. Figured start off small and see what that got us. So far I spark, I think, I don't know how to check to see if the spark plugs or distributor cap work. However, I'm under the impression the fuel that has been sitting in the tank has gone horribly bad and either need to replace fuel filter, injecters, and or the fuel pump. I'm just wondering how would I go about checking any of these without investing alot of money. If I can avoid going to the shop I'll be accomplishing this. Thanks in advance.

I hope by now you got the old girl fired up? One thing to do is replace fuel filter. There should be a place along the fuel rails to connect an old style HVAC type gauge hose? If so? One thing I did to an Olds 98 was connect a hose to that rail connection. Then led it to a pan. Then just flipped the ignition ON. Without trying to start. The fuel pump then proceeded to pump the old gas into the bucket. Watch the fuel gauge. Once down to the last bit? Pour a half gallon of fresh in. Watch for the fuel color to change from brownish to clear. Once so? Stop. Remove hose.

If, it does not pump gas? You may have a bad fuel pump. But, if you hear the pump whirring along? It may be a clogged line?

The car should fire up after a bit of cranking. Not need to pump pedal. She's a EFI. They don't need it. If, it still won't crank? Remove air cleaner hose at intake and gently shoot some Start Fluid (ether) into intake opening. If, it now fires even a bit? Keep concentrating on fuel pump and lines. If, it doesn't even try? You have a dead/no power ignition .

Good Luck!
