newby with some Chryslers

Hi, my name is Will and I am new to the Mopar world. My uncle has a number of old Chryslers, mostly Newports and 1 Valiant. They are all rusted out pretty bad so a full makeover will be required. I am big into custom hotrods and I figure this would be a good starting point. I am not sure of the years of these cars but I do know that the Newports were made in the 70's and from what I've seen on ebay, all the 70's newports look similar. Can anyone give me information on these cars such as engine options and what VIN codes tell you the engine size? My plan is to take the engines out and sell them and drop in a crate motor but I don't know what size engine I would be selling(or rebuilding). Thanks guys

RE: newby with some Chryslers

I'll just go by memory here... the 5th character in the VIN is the engine code.
G is 318-2bbl
M is 400-4bbl ( I think)
N is 440?
It's been too long. There should be an emissions sticker on the hood somewhere that will say. And on the engine block above the starter.
