we were having fun that night and pulled up at a stoplight beside this ford pickup, popped it in neutral and did a couple revs, guy in the truck turns his head, nods, and does the same thing as us in the jeep try to keep a straight face. we put our jeep back in drive and when the other lights turned red we "2 footed" the beast waiting for the greenlight for a great launch. light turns green and we jolt off the line leaving the truck in our dust all the way up to 130mph then decided to slow down because he was about an 1/8 mile behind.. needless to say we put it in its place with chrysler power

I would hope that the Jeep beat the F150. Those 16V 5.4's are low rpm - high torque towers; they're quite slow. That's why Ford's been running the 4.6 for so long in the ponies, tbirds, crown vics, etc. The 5.4 is in the Cobras and Lightnings, but it's also 32V and blown.

Now, go race an eco-boost (yeah, the 3.5L version) F150 and see if you can even catch up. I seem to remember C&D running a 2011 eco-boost F150 at mid-14's in the 1/4 mile. That's ridiculous.

Jeep's done well for me but all things come to an end. My jeep, a 2001 Sport, cost me plenty. On the contrary, I invested in Ford in 2008/2009 and did rather well. The time has come to decide on a replacement vehicle. My experience with the jeep: First one: Used 1987. Drove it to 200K+ and reluctantly moved on. BTW, My neighbor made a mudder out of it. Still kicking as far as I know. In 2001 I wanted another one before XJ production stopped. The vehicle they delivered had paint issues. Three tries to fix and now it's peeling where they said the paint was good. Since then I've had a failed transfer case rebuild, twice, and at 120K miles, the notorius 50mph shake is back. It's also overheating. Not too big a deal but I'm afraid to set foot in a dealership. I understand things go wrong. But a long string of problems has detered me. Hate to retire a jeep at 120K. It's just broken in. Looks like I'm going Ford.
