Am I getting RIPPED OFF?
Hi guys,
My wifes car went into a limp mode 4 days ago. (would not change out of 1st gear and clunked when engaging the 'D' position on the automatic transmission) althought there were no warning lights coming up on the dash.
I took it into Chrysler and they have said it needs a new Solenoid Valve and Transmission Oil change for £700 ($1000)
Do you know if this is correct or are the bending me over due to me knowing nothing about cars engines.
Thanks, any response appreciated.
Sean

as stated in most of my post's im not a tech , however - i would def try a different shop. maybe just a local trans shop. no disrespect to my bff who im thinking is a chrysler tech but dealerships have always been expensive. maybe you could save a few dollars on passing on the trans service and oil change if its not in dire need of this service. maybe you only need the Solenoid Valve to get by? but then again i dunno?

Can you repair it yourself? No? Then you'll have to go with what they say or refuse it.
Nobody here has the car in front of them so there is no way we can tell you if they are or not.
