Default Dyeing leather seats

Has anyone had any experience changing the color of leather seats? I think my Sebring's seats would look better if I could change the center inserts of the taupe seats to a lighter color for a two-tone effect. Would that be possible? Would it last? Can you expect good results going from a darker to a lighter color? Cost? DIY possible?
