I bought a 2000 Lxi with 127k on it, manual says that t-belt & water pump needs changing at 125k. The car was a trade - in & dealer had no idea if t-belt & water pump were changed at 125k. My question is will I get a code or something if the belt or w-pump starts to fail, or should I replace parts just to be on the safe side? Car is running fine but I read the manual & am now concerned since I don't know if the work has been done already.

 

remove part of the front cover and take a look to see if it looks new or is cracking there is not a sensor that will tell u if a belt is worn.
