Question 1999 Chrysler Concorde LXi

I am thinking about buying a 1999 Concorde LXi that has 200,000 miles on it. It has the 3.2 liter V6. Were these reliable cars and was the 3.2 a good or bad engine. I have not seen any Concordes or LHS cars on the road for years, which makes me wonder. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

the 3.2 3.5 engines were awesome easy to work on and vary reliable. Just do the normal maintance to them and they will treat you right

Thanks! Btw, I own a 07 Magnum R/T. Back then Magnum SE's had the 2.7 L V6. That engine had a bad reputation. Was that the same 2.7 L that was in the Concorde LX cars years ago? What do you think of the 2.7 that was in the Concordes?

The first years of the 2.7l, 1999-2001, had issues most notably in the water pump and PVC system that resulted in engine sludge and a destroyed engine.

A number of running changes were made to the engine and by 2004 the issues were remedied and the engine had very few issues after that. The engine was discontinued with the introduction of the 3.6l pentastar in 2011.

I had a '04 sebring with the 2.7l with 240,000 miles until it was totaled. Only significant engine issue was the water pump needed to be replaced at 135,000 miles, coolant at the water pump weep hole.

I had an '98 Concord LXi, put 185,000 on it and I didn't treat it well at all, I wish I had another.

By “normal maintenance” the Timing Belt and Water Pump are MUST DO 7yr/100k 3.2 & 3.5
If not engine may grenade.
265k on mine, still runs great

i had one of those 2.7 in a 98 concord I had 390k before i got rid of it. The wire harness was an issue and was causing the alternator not to operate and this was on a 8 hour vacation trip so it got scrapped there instead of towing it back home .

Thanks! If I buy this 1999 Concorde with 200K miles on it, I will have no idea if or when the water pump and timing belt were ever replaced. The seller is the third owner and is only flipping the car. They have no receipts for any work done. I pulled a copy of the Carfax and it says nothing about major repairs like timing belt. If its time to replace the water pump won't it be leaking coolant indicating its time?

car fax does not tell you if anyone but a dealer has done repairs on it. Car fax is also for insurance claims I would replace the water pump and timing belt so you just know when to have a baseline for when its due. Same for oil and transmission and anything else you see.
