Question 3.5 Overheating

I have a 2001 LHS 3.5L that is overheating. The lower radiator hose is cold when engine is hot, leading me to suspect a stuck thermostat. I can turn on the heater full hot and get the temp to come down. I have two questions.

1. Is this a good diagnosis?
2. Since the temp comes down when heater is on, is it safe to drive in this condition?

Thanks to anyone for your help!!!

NO dont drive Sounds ok for the diog If its stuck Closed then thats the issue
If not then u are prob looking at a radiator being clogged or water pump not able to circulate the coolant.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply. Since I have replaced the radiator and pump lately I am hoping for the thermostat.
