95 Concorde 3.5 Motor Swap
New guy here
Long story short.. 95 concorde 3.5, 180k miles. E fans quit and the motor was overheated, started eating water shortly after. I pulled it down thinking I could have the heads milled and put it back together but after further investigation I feel its better to find a used motor rather than put money into the existing block and heads with 180k miles. Junkyard has a 3.5 on the shelf for $575 claim it has 79k miles and ran perfect. I proceeded to pull the block out of the car. Going to look at the JY motor next week. My questions are... if this motor is out of a newer car do I need to use the flexplate off the old motor? Any other input is appreciated this is my first transverse engine swap. Never had tranny issues always had regular filter and fluid changes.

Up to 2001 ..you wont have a problem.....
The key..... Look at the computer connectors.....Your car has two gray connectors.... the later cars have 4 small black connectors. The two Are NOT interchangeable without much grief.
Unless yours is broken...I would use the existing flywheel regardless.

Also there is nothing wrong with the old flywheel I was very careful of the CPS when pulling the motor. How difficult is it to remove the transaxle with the engine in place? lets say I have tranny problems a year or two down the road... I was doing some research and found that the tranny was "new and improved for '95? a lot of critics are telling me to scrap the car im wasting my time yada yada. The car has very little rust and a ton of new brake, steering and suspension parts. Am I doing a boob job on a 60yr old hooker here?
Went and got the used motor today, out of a 97 concorde. Very clean inside and out, only difference is in the wiring harness. where the engine harness plugs into the vehicle harness there is one extra 2 wire plug on my car. The used engine has just the two big plugs. I traced the wires in the harness on my old engine... green and blue, they seem to tie into the injector pulses. Any advice would be greatly appreciated..
Guess i'm going to put the motor in and see if it starts, if not i'm going to tap the harness and install the plug thats missing on the new engine harness. My car is a 95 concorde the motor came out of a 97 concorde.
