95 Concorde - Change from 3.5L to 3.3L?
Hello,
We found my son a low mileage 1995 Concorde in like new condition. Only had 101k miles on it and was garage kept. Within a month and with no warning, the 3.5L engine grenaded the lower end. I had checked oil with him just two days before and it looked good.
Our first thought was replacing with a used or maybe reman 3.5L engine. But, more research, I am reading these engines commonly had early deaths due to poor design. Now I am not sure.
I also read that the 3.3L engine also available in this model was a fairly reliable engine.
So two questions.
1. Is it true the 3.5L was junk and 3.3L a better engine?
2. How much modification would I need to make to car to drop in a used or reman 3.3L instead of the 3.5L??
Appreciation any insight from those who know this generation of Chryslers.
