Newbie with new to me 04 300m

Good day to all

New from Chicagoland

Just picked up a new to me 04 300m with 97k on the clock and clean inside out. Very cheap in price bit with low cost came a big problem. Car starts fine no motor issue trans seems to shift into gear with no jerking.

Here is the real big problem PO said it needed a new front sub frame the driver wheel is pretty much rubbing and the axle is snapped.

I'm mechanically inclined and do all my work on all my cars except for pulling motors and trans I can pretty much do everything else needed.

Did I just start in the shallow end of the rabbit hole or is this just some time and dedication?
The car was just too good to pass up for the price and I've alfa wanted this body style since they came out so I think that got the best of my decision making.

We can help

Rare for the K frame to be an issue unless crashed. Look carefully at the spring seat on the strut for rust/rot/ cracks. We have seen failures there. Post some pics.

Thanks for the response. I checked it out and it seems, the lower drive side control arm broke off from the actual mount bracket that is welded to the frame. The frame still looks good from below some surface rust nothing really sticking out. Looks as if the actual bracket that holds the control arm to the frame snapped. Is that a peice that can be welded back on or a new sub is needed?

Good looking ride!!
As far as welding/repair of the K frame, have not seen or heard of it done and may not pass inspection depending on state.
Replacing K frame will be a big job. Support or remove engine and trans, front suspension then drop and swap the frame. NOTE the frame to body bolts/mounts are known to be rusted/fused together by "mother nature" and could be quite a fight to remove.

Post a pic of the damaged area if you can.
