Default Battery keeps going flat overnight

Sometimes, my battery is dead as a dodo in the morning. Obviously, I must be leaving something on, even though I carefully check everything when I switch off at night...
Usually, this happens after I've been using my a/c in the rain...I've noticed that sometimes, when I hit the off button on the controls, a few minutes later, the panel lights up again at my previous setting...is this not weird? Any suggestions as to how to stop this overnight drain?
It has also happened in the past, that the courtesy lights re,main on far longer than they should, sometimes for hours, though this was not the case last night. Any ideas?

I just had a similar issue. To be honest the only solution would be to replace the alternator. At this point it sounds like your car is running off the battery only in the alternator is not charging the battery.

It could also just be that the battery is old and will no longer hold a charge.

Hello Bigmacinrwanda,

Are you planning on taking it into the dealership? Although I am not a trained technician, it may be something beyond the surface. If any assistance is needed, please send us a direct message with your VIN. We'd be glad to help.

Default Could be trunk light switch stuck on

I had the same problem for many years - I had to change the battery every 2 or 3 years since I first bought the car new (2001 300M). No one could find the problem - so I found it myself (I'm an electrical engineer) by measuring the voltage drops across the fuses while the car was off. It turned out to be the trunk light switch caused the light to stay on (intermittently). I removed the bulb in the trunk and haven't had the problem for 10 years.
I hope this helps someone.
