Default P1698 - Help??

1999 Concorde LXI 3.2

I know this is a CCD bus comm problem between PCM and TCM (ok, put the BCM in there).

Car runs fine, just have no drive indicator on the dash...can someone point me in the right direction to solve this problem.

Not related - On the coolant overflow tank, there is a small outlet that is blocked off on my car...where is this supposed to go?

I'll clarify - when I say NO PRNDL display - I mean it's all lit up. Everything is boxed and lit. (Not just one letter - all of them)

Not sure how to verify the question, but I was able to read the code, thus I assume the PCM comm is good. The car shifts properly, so I assume the PCM must be able to communicate with the TCM...via the BCM.

Took it to the dealer, and they think its the BCM at $750.00 to replace...not sure I want to trust that diagnosis.

I had this on my dodge van and it turned out to be the Transmission Range Sensor

Interesting, not sure if this car has one of those. I have noticed, that on one occation after the diagnoses, the PRNDL display started working, so I'm pretty sue it's not the BCM...probably lose wire somewhere. Will figure it out by the next smog requirement!

Ok, smog is coming up, and I had to fix it! Ordered a used TCM form Ebay....installed it today, and the PRNDL indicator is working, check-engine light is off!! I didn't believe it, put the old one back in, same problem...so it was the TCM, woohoo!
