Default Traction control

I’m wondering if the low speed traction control for slick surfaces also works as a performance traction control on dry pavement. I put a 3.8 Eclipse engine in a Sebring convertible and it does not have traction control. I can install the factory traction control, but it will be a real pain to install and I don’t want to mess with it if it not going to do much. No one on the Sebring site has enough power to give an opinion.
