Default 2005 pacifica navigation not working in Europe

Hi there, a friend of mine who lives in Germany bought a 2005 Pacifica from US and his navigation won't work.
He tried to upload dvd's with european maps but it wont read the dvd.
Does anyone have any idea how to make this work?
My first thought was that in north america we have videos in NTSC system and in Europe they have pal-secam. Could that be it?
Are there map updates available in US for Europe?
Any help would be appreciated

I believe the the radio/multimedia unit is different in other countries. It wouldn't read it unless it has the same system. Heard about this happening before on a friends car. Quick question though...Why would your friend buy a car from the states if she was going to live in Germany???

Its actually quite popular to bring used cars from US to Europe. They are much cheaper in US. And if you bring a car from south states where there is no winter its even better.
Pacifica though is only sold in America and not available in europe.
