Default Sub and Amp tuning

So I got a 1000w Boss 12" sub in a sealed box bridged to a 500W Boss amp all run with a 1500W wiring kit. I have seen some stuff online about how to tune the system such as turn all the bass and gain down, crank head unit to distortion point and back off 1/4 turn then the same with the amp gain. Now play with the bass boost and LPF and thats where they loose me.

My amp came with one of those remote tuners and when I set everything up I did the head unit tune, then put that remote to 50%, turned the gain up about 3/4, bass boost about 3/4 and LPF at about 160. Does that sound about right. With that setup I can turn the remote off and basically only run off of my four 6x9's or turn it all the way up and make people hate me. Is this tune going to hurt anything, What would you set it to. Keep in mind I listen to anything from country to rock/alternative/metal to rap and dubstep to even john mayer.

This may help with your tuning, not the same company but the same procedure.
