Default Medium duty pickups... due March 1st

Rumor is that the medium-duty Dodge pickups, based on Sterling/Freightliner trucks, will be unveiled on March 1 in Atlanta at a fleet show. Observers expect a 6.7 liter Cummins diesel to provide power.

Here is some info on the new Dodge Chassis cab.

PRODUCT BACKGROUND

ALL new Class 3 Chassis cab for the Dodge brand. DC is the first Ram product exclusively designed for the Chassis cab market, offering an up-fit friendly design that no longer requires expensive re-engineering for body installations (BR chassis cab)

DC will be "Job-Rated", meaning it was designed, engineered, tested, and built to meet the rigid set of standards of Commercial truck buyers.

Two Cab-Axle lengths-60" and 84" Single rear wheel is only 60"

MARKET

Class 2-3- Dominated by Ford (40%), then Chevy (30%), GMC (23%), then the minor players (7%)

Ford and GM have carryover products for 2006/2007

Volume forecast for segment is 140K expected to grow to 156K by 2012.

PERFORMANCE

6.7L CUMMINS 305hp/610 lb-ft torque. Available factory installed Diesel Exhaust Brake.
5.7L Hemi 330hp/375 lb-ft torque.
Highest single-rear wheel GVWR-10,200 lbs.
DWR GVWR-12,500 lbs.
Gross combined Weight Rating (GCWR-Vehicle plus payload plus trailer)-23,000 lbs (15% towing.hauling increase Vs Standard Ram HD)
Largest brakes in Class 3- 53mm.

Available 6-speed automatic transmission with PTO capability (Diesel Only)
This is an Aisin transmission.

ONE PIECE C-Channel frame. Industry standard 34" frame spacing with clean frame rail mounting surface.

Best in class standard 52 Gallon Fuel tank.

Available 220 amp alternator.

Fold flat load area in rear seat area.

4-Wheel anti-lock disk brakes (ABS)

PACKAGES

ST/SLT/Laramie
ST is the basic work oriented truck. LPO for power equipment package in process.

SLT adds: cloth, 40.20/40 seat, air conditioning, tilt, cruise, carpet, 4 speakers, etc.

Best in Class interior cab room (121.6 cu ft for Quad cab, 65.2 for Reg cab)

Laramie adds usual premium features.

Proposed pricing is to be $1 K less than Ford comparably equipped.

DC is the chassis designation, not "DaimlerChrysler" in this memo.
DR = 1500
DH = 2500
D1 = 3500 pickup
DC = 3500/4500/5500 chassis-cabs

Class 3 is only the 3500 C/C. Class 3 is designated as 10,001-14,000 pounds GVWR. Class 4 is 14,001-16,000 and Class 5 is 16,001-19,500
