I honestly think that Apple would have trouble marketing an automated car after the fiasco of their own doing where they turned the performance down on the products that they had sold.
I know a lot of people that used to own Apple devices, that now refuse to deal with them, because the company did something so disreputable to its customers.

Now, take what they have done, and factor in a car.
Who wants to buy a car with a certain rated specs, knowing that the company might, at their own discretion, reduce that performance, and hide it from the customers?

Apple has fallen so far, that they are now the third largest marketer of mobile devices behind Samsung and a Chinese company (Huawei) that cannot even sell its cellphones in the United States because they have been classified as a national security threat. The problem being that the Chinese government owns the company, and cannot guarantee that the systems will remain secure.
Think about that for a moment. Number three behind a company that is stated to have major security issues.
