Default 2001 Sebring convertible LX

I just bought a 2001 Sebring convertible LX and the motor crapped out on me literally within 24 hours of buying it. So I Googled it and found out that the 2.7l that is in it is absolutely terrible in every sense of the word. So I was wondering is there a motor that can be easily swapped into this car or am I stuck with the dreaded 2.7l.

No. You're stuck. There is no easy swap for this engine. Take care of it and it will take care of you. Neglect it and you'll regret it.

Great not the news I was hoping for. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this engine sludge problem with these motors or will the next one I buy die in 75,000 miles

I own two of them, both with over 100k miles. Change the oil faithfully. If the water pump starts to leak into the engine oil, fix it immediately as the oil will turn to sludge and ruin the engine.

Is there some way to know if it starts leaking. it seems like everything I read that this engine overheats and due to bad sensor placement you don't know about it until the sludge has killed the motor

If your motor oil starts looking like milk chocolate on the end of the dipstick, that's a clue.

if it died within 24 hours of you purchasing the car I would look at a small claims court cause within 24 hours clearly there must of been something wrong with it already.
