Default 2001 Sebring LXi coupe

Hi everyone,
I'm seriously considering buying the above car. Seller says it has the 3.0 engine. How can this be verified. I hear many stories about BAD problems with the 2.7 engine and do not want to start down that road.
If anyone can tell me how to verify the 3.0 engine I would appreciate it. Also, does the 3.0 have similar problems with reliability and failure as the 2.7??

It probably says in middle of the engine that it is a 3.0. I know my 2.7 says it very conspicuously. That being said, my 2.7 has over 202,000 miles on it and it recently needed the water pump replaced. That's the only problem my engine has had.

They didn't put the 2.7 engine in the coupes, to my knowledge. Coupes were built by Mitsubishi, not Chrysler.
If you want a picture of a 2.7 L engine, look in my (dcotter0579's) album on this forum where you'll find an open hood shot.
You'll see it looks quite different from the 3.0 which has a silver colored upper intake manifold with six parallel curving tubes.
Like the Barrister, I have no bad news to report with my experience with the 2.7L engine. I've owned the sedan since new and have over 100k on that one with no engine trouble whatsoever. The convertible I bought last year and it has over 100k miles as well.
