2002 Sebring oil in coolant
My 1st thought is head gasket.
But it runs smooth, no missing or rough idle.
If left idling for at least 5 minutes or longer and rev it, white smoke will blow out then it clears up. Does not smoke constantly or while driving.
It's my nieces car, and I followed her close to 30 miles and it never smoked at all.
It has a SEC light on and I am waiting for my friend to bring me my scan tool back to see what it says.
A/C is cold, and the heat is hot.
Any thoughts on what else may be causing this?
Thanks

Try the key dance: Key from off to on (not start), off, on, off, on.
Codes will appear in the odometer space.
Best test for head gasket is a compression test. You may be able to borrow a tester from your local parts store.

My friend dropped off the code scanner and it shows EGR/P0403
The car been sitting for over six months, she bought a new vehicle. I jumped it. She asked if I saw the white smoke when it started, and I didn't. Didn't smoke on the way to my house and we left it running for 30 ish minutes with a/c on when we got here then I took it for a brief spin. When I got back, shut it off then immediately restarted and the SES light came on, pulled it in shop and parked it. Later pulled radiator cap and discovered a milky looking blob, drained coolant, added tap water, started and drove. No smoke but when let idle for 5 ir more minutes then rev it, it white smokes a little.
She said the SES light was not on nor was it smoking when she parked it.
To bad the EGR has nothing to do with oil in coolant. Was hoping for intake gasket maybe.
Compression test I guess it will be.

Probably should do a compression test and a cooling system pressure test to see if there's a leak somewhere. If both show problems then it's likely a head gasket. Don't leave that tap water in the cooling system. That will cause a new round of problems.
You've checked the coolant for oil. Check the oil for coolant. Oil that looks like chocolate milk is a bad sign. So is an abnormally high level of oil (could indicate water in the bottom of the pan).

Thanks.
No coolant in oil, just oil in the coolant.
Hey, got a code p0403, where is the location of the EGR Solenoid?
I watched some videos of the Eclipse with 2.4 but it doesn't appear to be in the same location as the Eclipse which is on the far side of intake against the firewall?
I need to take the time and flash light to look closer but, is it up by the EGR near the TB?

Yup. Built by Mitsubishi. The EGR solenoid will probably be on the engine itself rather than the firewall. Look near the oil fill cap, per my Haynes manual.
When you order parts, be sure to specify that it's a coupe. There are practically no common parts with the sedan/convertible version.
