New problem; flashing oil light.
I had the car serviced last week and all the fluids are at a normal level. The oil light came on, then went out and is now flashing. I parked the car until I figure this out. Any suggestions? Also, the check engine light came on a few days earlier. |
2.7 engine?

Yes! 2.7 engine.

oil light.
Can you please elaborate a little. What connector and where is it? And what's the solution? I'm only a back yard mechanic.
Also, is it safe to drive this way? Could it be a bad pump? It's about 10 miles away from my house and I don't know if I should have it towed or if I can drive it home. Thanks. |

is that better |
Flickering oil lght.
FYI, Folks; I learned on another site that this is a very common problem with these cars and this engine. When the car heats up and the oil thins out, this can occur.
One suggestion is to use a heavier oil in the Summer. 10-40 would probably suffice. This doesn't mean that this is always the problem, but I drove mine this AM, after sitting for a couple of days and after 10 miles of driving, no light. I'll continue my search for other solutions, but I am less concerned than I was, about driving it. One is naturally concerned about doing damage to the engine. |
no not a good idea to use a more heavy oil sludge will occur and kiss the engien goodbye

Replace the switch. There's a how-to with pictures and everything over on the Chrysler Sebring Convertible Club website.

Replace switch.
Thanks , I had seen that post and was considering it. It's nice to have some positive input. This car certainly has its own distinct idiosyncrasies. I have owned dozens of cars in my time, but this one takes the cake.
