Default 2008 Chrysler Sebring

I was about to try and add R134a refrigerant to my recently purchased Sebring. There is a small circular warning label near where I believe the correct "valve" is located. It stated.... "Do not operate vechicle while AC system is under vacuum"... "Action required / Release Vacuum". I don't know what this means........... and if it really pertains to charging the AC system? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Ed.

1) Don't add refrigerant just for the sake of adding refrigerant. How have you decided that it needs refrigerant? How do you know how much to add?

2) The only place to add refrigerant is at the low side tap. It will be the only place the kit can fit.

3) The proper way to charge an A/C system is to first suck all the old refrigerant out, then subject the system to a vacuum to remove moisture. Usually, you apply the vacuum for a period of time, like 20 minutes to get as much moisture out as possible. During that time, you should not operate the engine, per the warning. If you MUST run the engine, you should release the vacuum, which means you'll have to go through the process again before filling the system with the proper amount of refrigerant.
