2008 Sebring 41TE problem.
So my wife's sebring had a fluid noise coming from the trans, the noise has stopped but the trans has gone into limp mode. The code was for a shift soliniod which I replaced, along with a filter (fluid good, minimal clutch material in pan). After resetting the pcm (key to on, depress accelerator, wait 5min) the light went off, and the trans worked around the block, but on the next start the code came back. Now sometimes when I put it in D, it will shudder and kill the engine (feels like the torque converter is just locking up while standing still). Any help/guidance will be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you in advance.
If you could elaborate on what I need to do it would be greatly appreciated.
OK Thank you. It takes a pretty specialized computer to test the pcm right? Is that a dealer thing or should most shops have that ability? Thanks again for your help.
Your best bet is to take it to a transmission shop. Those guys deal with transmissions all day, every day. Half the time the dealer will just farm it out to the transmission shop anyway. Before you decide to repair it, get a good idea as to the worth of the car. Compare the cost of repair to the cost of replacing the car. The car is 15 years old and probably not worth pouring a bunch of money into it.
