98 sebring conv. 2.5 H multiple codes
ok so the never ending nightmare continues. I have codes p0300, and all cyl. codes except 1 & 3. The first time i had codes read it was 1&3, next time it was 1&6. this time it is p0300, p0302, 304, 305, & 306. new plugs, wires, dist. cap. noticed oil around plugs but am a completely broke college student so didnt replace the plug tubes, I have noticed fuel injectors swivel freely, not sure if that is necessarilly a bad thing or not if so i would assume the O-rings need replaced. have not tried stethascoping the injectors to see if they are working properly or not just yet,
started with p0300 first and went straight to the EGR, blocked it first at the intake and noticed a slightly better idle/ acceleration when steping on gas pedal. the problem is it stalls on take off if you give it gas, feather the gas and eventually i can get up to around 2500 rpm where it will then accelerate enough to get up to speed, but starts to miss at specific speeds between 50-60mph. if i floor it the car does not accelerate but basically sounds as if the engine is turned off, no sound unless i let up then it will catch and start running again. i have just recently started having backfires aswell. back to the EGR, i removed it and the line to the intake and noticed large carbon build up. i cleaned both & ensured plunger was moving. now i havent noticed anyone post anything like this yet so im looking to find help on how this may be affecting the vehicle. while the EGR & line are completely removed from the vehicle for cleaning i started up the vehicel, upon flooring the accelerator to once again reproduce the stallout condition instead the vehicle all though very load has zero hesitation, does not loose idel, missfire, or backfire at all. assumption EGR just needed cleaning. after cleaning and making sure the lines where clear, i reassmble the EGR to the vehicle. it instantly runs better for an whole 1/2 mile then starts all the symptoms up again just not quite as severe as before. question is at this point do i simply replace the EGR and hope that is one of undoubtedly manyt problems im facing?
i listen for the fuel pump on start up and it seems to be working though some time ago the fuel pump fuse would blow every time the vehicle was started. that was fixed simply by going up 5 amps higher on the fuse size. i have noticed a power loss though almost like no fuel delivery if i go around a curve on a highway at higher speeds,
as far as the misfires i have checked all connections to be in proper order all plugs fire so can all the other codes be coming from the EGR valve? Im distressed with this as i have 1 quarter left to graduate from college & it requires an internship with an 1 hour 40 minute drive one way. this vehicle has become dangerous to drive, being a single parent of two i cant afford an injury but at the same time i cant miss the last quarter so any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated, also plz. keep in mind im broke so simply swapping out alot of parts just isnt feasible for me.
thx. for any help and sorry for the book i just wrote here.

We just bought a 99 sebring conv., drove it for 300 miles and the service light came on. codes 300,301,302,303,304,305,306. As far as I can tell it runs fine. Seems like generally the culprit is the distributor. I want to make sure before I spend the money on it. I have read other post and it seems that this the problem.
so after removing the EGR once more to clean it a bit more, when replacing it on the vehicle i noticed the grommit on the front motor mount was ripped in half, then i decided to take a larger view of the entire vehicle.
after the motor mount i noticed multiple other things that seem to be common with this vehicle, like trans fluid drips, oil seems to be coming from somewhere, white cloud of smoke when i floor it if im lucky enough to get it to rev instead of just dieing out.
then it came to me, one easy fix for this!!! in the morning i drive it to the junkyard and trade it in for scrap price. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE A CHRYSLER PRODUCT!! this thing has nickle & dimed me from the first day i bought it. hell this thing must be a $75k vehicle by this time. unfortunate that the manufacturer wont take the responsibility to have fixed all these ongoing common problems and just dumped the cost over onto the consumer.
now i guess i just have to worry about my durango and what it will do now. chevy or GMC for me from now on.

DUDE! The car is 13 years old, what the h___ do you expect from a car?
Try running your iPod through snow and rain and mud and salt water in freezing weather and 105 degrees and see if it still works after 13 years of that kind of abuse.
And by the way, it's amazing to me that somebody can get almost all the way through college these days and have only a nodding acquaintanceship with basic rules of punctuation and grammar. If your college papers are anything like your posts here it's a sorry testimonial to the state of education these days.

punctuation and grammar are my weak points especially here using the english language which by the way isnt my first but my third spoken. as far as what makes a man isnt how they spell or punctuate, it is ones ability to advance in life every day. certainly someone who would attempt to belittle another across the internet has no grounds to talk of education unless of course you are reffering to elemantary education where boys enter the playground and attempt to impress the girls or maybe in your case this being mostly a male forum the boys, simply to make up for their own short comings. the second reason one uses the internet to attempt to put others down for their thoughts or beleifs is because in real life they are, always have been, and always will be filled with cowardice. i do appreciate the criticism, all be it from a school boy. maybe i will start working on a different degree when i finish this one. hmm what to do? i know i will go for grammar punctuation and spelling. ya that should make my entire life soo the much better, maybe i could make myself feel better by trying to hold it over others heads to once again make up for my own short comings. you have a great day too oh and thx for the intelligent reply to an automotive question you should look in the mirror and hold yourself ih high regard again this morning. oh ya forgot to use grammar spell check program again, can you do that for me plz that way it looks as if i actually know what im doing even though all i did was press a button?
So you are standing up for your beliefs, that a manufacturer of a car that is 13 years old, and has received who knows what kind of abuse should take responsibility for fixing up all that damage that has been caused by all that abuse? Sorry, but it those are your "beliefs" then feel free to stand up for them but don't look for a lot of sympathy from this quarter.
It's too bad that you can barely write the English language, but it's shocking to me that colleges will grant a degree to people that are barely literate. I understand that English is a difficult language, but sloppy grammar and spelling are often indicative of sloppy thinking, and I can't help but think that you have demonstrated a classical example of that on these pages. By the way, the word is "hypocrisy". And you might try looking it up in the dictionary to see how it is properly used.

those are a few very simple words used in my post. they come with a few other words like "from the start" and "since the day i bought it". I understand with your being a proffesor in the english language you might not have picked up on that, but maybe your math skills require a bit more attention than your english. You see those words when placed in a sentence means the very month it was purchased and in fact was not even a year old, the problems occured. That means hmmm 2+2 = ?? well in mathmatics it would be four but apparentely all you can focus on is the current age of the vehicle instead of using your high education in grammar to put together the actual meaning of the phrase.
Regardless, time spent conversing with you is at an end. if you feel the need to get the last word which i'm sure you will feel free. if i where you i would concentrate on sentence comprehension instead. Grammar is worthless unless you understand what the meaning of the sentence is.
have a good day and dont forget to keep clicking your spell check button.
PS yes post script, the manufacturer should have been placing recalls on the thousands+ of those problems that where occuring from the day the vehicle was replaced instead of allowing customers become so dissatisfied with the product over so many years that they go else where. no wonder they took the pay off from the govertnment. hmm just like before the customer paying for the manufacturers mistakes and lack of responsibility.

I dont particularly care about your Grammar, Or your use of the English language...But what is Your Primary Language...So I can Translate into your Native Tongue, and tell you how much of an **** you are being.
Instead of bad mouthing Chrysler, Why dont you get angry with yourself for buying a Vehicle that has had the Snot beaten out of it????
In all honesty, If you got ANYTHING ON THIS CAR covered under a Good Will Warranty from Chrysler...I would Pack up my tools and Quit on the spot.
Now...THINK.....Removing the EGR clears up your running issues......Tell me WHY???
Use the Brain God Gave You and Think about it.....What does EGR do.??? And WHY does the car make all that noise when you pull the valve off.....Why does it run better, while it is making all that noise....Cmon man...think.....What is wrong ...that creating an EXHAUST LEAK makes the car run better..?????

now that we have all of that out of the way. tone, sell your catalitic converter first and see how it runs. what about me. my car has the codes but none of the symptoms. po300,301,302,303,304,305,306,300. this is the way they are displayed in the scan reader. I can reset the computer and they will come back after 10 or so miles. with it not having the noticable symptoms what would be the LOCICAL culprit? thanks.
