98 sebring conv. 2.5 H multiple codes
the converter is not plugged at all, as far as the EGR goes when it is cold and not opening it is ok but shortly when it is warm and allowing that little bit of return exaust through it becomes the problem.
the vehicle is no-longer a problem i have scrapped it.
to be clear, i didnt buy a vehicle that had the snot beat out of it i bought a vehicle off of the lot and the assembly line all the same. i was the only owner and have faced these type of problems since the purchase. when one was fixed another would arise. simple point now is that there wouldnt be soo many posts of similiar but undeterminable problems with this vehicle if they where confronted earlier maybe when they became apparent by not only the consumer but chrysler aswell. i didnt come here to rant or rave but to find solutions. yes i responded to attack after years of frustation with this vehicle. just too many problems to keep dealing with and maybe i did state my opinion on a vehicle but in no way did i originate the personel affront.

Did mitsubishi have the same problem with these engines in their cars, or is this a chrysler only problem? Seems like ever since the "K" cars chrysler produced in the 70's, their cars have been less than desirable. I know the slant 6 almost put them out of business because it was so reliable and people didn't have to replace them. What gives now? Are they building them so cheap that they just fall apart? I think the Ram truck brought them back from the dead but now, unless the new cars are better they are headed back to where they were in the 70's-80's
Jbab....
I hate to do it, But There are a few holes I have to poke in your theory.
You mentioned slant six....which was used all thru the 60's and 70's...So we'll stick with that. A dart or Valiant, or Maybe a Duster will work....
With a slant six in it....and without air conditioning, 1970 saw the DART Sticker priced around 3000 Dollars. in 1970 Minimum wage was 1.90 an hour....250 dollars a week made you a Rich Man, and 100K out of the car was UNHEARD OF...Sure Many of them did, but it wasnt expected.....Gas was 50 cents a Gallon, and the factory warranty on the car was 12 months 12000 miles. After that....You were on youre own..... And The Guy who got 200k out of a Slant six...was the guy who was WILLING to maintain It.
From My point as a dealership tech, The problem is not with the cars, The problem Lies with the Expectations of the customer.
Here we have a 13 year old sebring, that is in Poor condition, according to the owner...
He is upset that Chrysler will not take responsibility for The Car. The warranty has been Expired for 10 years, and the cost of Maintaining the car falls on the Owner.
pARDON MY vERBAGE..... But since when does the measure of Quality get determined by how Much Free $hit the Manufacturer will give you after the warranty is up.....Those slant six owners only had 12 months.....Then they took responsibility for their Vehicles....
Those who didnt take responsibility , suffered the early demise, while those who did, held the long relationship with their Vehicle.
What Is so different in This day and age...????
