AAUUGGHH!!! The car is cursed!!!!
OK, we bought the car (98 Sebring JXi Convertible)two weeks ago it overheated when we got it home. The fan wasn't coming on and it did not spin freely so I replaced the fan that seemed to work. Then it wouldn't start but it turned out to be the fuse for the starter was blown replaced fuse and everything is happy. Then it is overheating again fan not coming on, test fan, fan works when hooked directly to battery. Replace both the coolant temperature sensor and the low speed relay (someone had already messed with the relay as it did not have a cover and a winding was broken and probably shorting out). Anyhow the fan worked like it was supposed to and no overheating. Now it won't start again. Fuse is good. Relay is good (hear it click when key turned). Solenoid knocks but engine does not turn over. Jumpstart does not help. I am supposing that the starter is bad. Should I replace the starter or should I perform a ritual slaughter of a live chicken in the engine compartment.
Thanks to everyone who has helped here the past week. This has been a great resource.
Once again, any help is greatly appreciated.

I would replace the starter first, then the chicken thing. (That way you won't have to work in the mess.)
But take it out and have it tested before you buy a new one.
