I mean the bleed valve on top of the water outlet housing on the 2006 Sebring Convt. The factory manual says it's "critical" that I open the bleed valve during a coolant refill. But the valve won't budge until it turns together with it's socket in it's plastic housing, ruining the housing. HOW do the dealer techs do it? Any techs out there?

Thank you, CT. I am using a 10 mm socket. Do you find that you have to try to open a few bleed valves at the parts desk before you find one that will open, or did I just have bad luck on mine? Are there new housings that grip the bushing better than the originals? Is it a mistake to use the Dorman replacement?

 

The mistake is to turn the bleed screw at all. The system will bleed itself after a few warm-up/cool-down cycles. NEVER touch that damn screw. You are absolutely right that it will spin the insert in the housing, thereby ruining it.
