Default A/C bypass, 2002 2.7L

My a/c compressor is on it's way out, and funds don't allow replacing it right now.

Does anyone know what length belt I would need if I simply removed the compressor for the time being?

Or, is there a source for a 'dummy' pulley to mount in place of the compressor? I did this on a Ford, but haven't found anywhere that lists
a compatible unit for the 2.7L

Thanks to all in advance.

Are the Compressor bearings going or clutch binding??

you could remove the compressor, then take your old belt, cut it, and then wrap it around where the "new" shorter belt would go and measure the length you will need to make that happen. Then you are going to have to hunt down a replacement belt of that length. Since belts are not usually sold by length, you'll need to get on friendly terms with the guy down at the parts store and maybe he'll let you measure his belts 'til you find on close enough to fit. Or as 2swift is suggesting, use the old compressor as an idler pulley.

thank you for your help.

Over the weekend, we did just about what you
suggested. Found the belt to use in another forum
(Gates K060431). Removed the clutch pulley from the
a/c compressor, put the shorter belt on..and it's running
like a top. The pulley probably could have stayed in place,
but, just to be on the safe side we took it off.

Again, thank you....I hope someone else down the line
can use this information.
