Default A/C Compressor

I have a 1999 Jxi Vert

I recharged the A/C system today. Now the compressor is switcing on and off randomly. The system worked prior to charging but was low on freon (and didnt cool well). I am now faced with this issue. My Gauge says the sytem is within spec for the correct operating pressure. It also cools very well when the compressor is actually running. Any Ideas on why it is now switching on and off? This is very noticeable when driving.

Thanks
Ray

I have a similar problem. I put in a new compressor because I happen to have one. I put in 4oz. of oil. Here's what I found - I evacuated the system and it holds the vacuum. I charged the system with 14oz. of 134a. The system now cycles on and off with the following: The high side heads toward 210psi and the high side hose gets starts to get very hot. The low side hose gets cool. The cooling fan comes on and the system shuts down. The low side heads toward 20psi. Once the pressures equalize around 80psi it starts over.

I needed to continue adding charge. The compressor was not actually turning off when the fan came on. The head pressure was just going down with the cooling fan. Once the charge was closer to full, the fan stayed on and the pressures stabilized. I got the pressure up to 35 on the low side. It appears to be working and staying on rather than cycling.

I just did recharged my ac after and engine swap. I put in 22.5 oz of r134 If it cycles the low or high preasure switches are turning it on and off. I have a 2001 sebring conv. Look at the decal under the hood. It will tell you how much r134 to put in. I put my tank on a digital scale and measured exactly 22.5 oz.
