Default Chrysler 1996 ( code PO138)

Hello,

On the OBD2 Meter shows this code, does anyone know what is mean or where do I find this sensor. PO 138 02 CIRCUIT HI 9H VOLTAGE BANK 1 SENSOR 2.

I have reset the computer, would that do any harm to the computer.

Thanks.

"Bank 1" refers to the bank of cylinders having cylinder #1 in it. On a V-6, that would be the rear bank.

which bank it is would be irrelevant because its down stream and only one down stream on a 96

Sorry Guys,

After resetting the fault it came on again, can someone let me know where this sensor it located, so I can replace it, it is an easy job or do I need to take it to a shop.

Thanks in advance

You'll need an O2 sensor socket and wrench and a way to safely support the car, NOT a jack. Find the exhaust pipe and follow it forward to locate the catalytic converter. Retrace your path to find the downstream oxygen sensor. Unplug it from the harness by lifting the tab on the connector and pulling the connector apart. Don't damage the connector or you're in for a big repair. Using the special tool, unscrew the old sensor and screw in the new one. If the new one doesn't have anti seize compound on it, put some on the threads before screwing it in to make it easier next time. Connect the plug to the harness and you're done.
You may be able to borrow/rent the tool from the auto parts store. Anti-seize compound is sold in little packs sufficient for the job for about a buck.

Default PO138 Code on 2006 sebring

Hi can someone help me out a while back I posted the same question, however I made a mistake with the year of the vechicle.

2006 Chrysler Sebring 2006 ( 2.7 L 6 CYLINDER sedan 4 door )

I had the o2 sensor replace, which is located downstream, however the check engine light is still on, however the code is still the same, (PO138) the mechnic suguest its the catalytic converter, however are calling the chrysler dealer they told me that the above car has two catalytic converter.

Question - how would know which one of the catalytic converter is bad , and its that the correct reason check engine light to stay on.

Thanks .

if he used a bosh o2 sensor take it out and but a dealer one in the converter will not turn on the check engine light for that code.
