Default Crankhouse pressure relief

Hi
My 2.7 at 200000 Kms uses 1L of oil per 1000 KM. ( 120000 Mls and a quart every 600 mls ) and I suspected the engine to suck it all in.
Removing the tube from valvecover to inletmanifold shows oilmist coming out.
Can I:
Plug the connection
Plug the inlet on manifold and let tube end in a bottle to collect oil as condensate to avoid spill, thereby avoiding the extra consumption due to the vacuum.

Check the PCV valve.

The PCV valve should function to reduce pressure in the crankcase.

Run a compression check to determine if there is excess blowby due to worn piston rings.

If that's an issue and you don't want to spend the money for a ring job, consider something like this:
