Default Exshaust replacement

I'm in need to replace the flex part of the exhaust due to deteriorating metal (Loud). The shop says about $300 for the front. Why?
Whats involved to replace just that part. I'm able to do the work, but time is a factor. If I have to do it my self, I'm capable to do so,just looking into it before I start.
Thanks in advance,
Rick
