Default Gas filler cap

Hi
I managed to open it once since buying my Sebring 2008, but how do I open the gas cap? The owners guide tells you how to make sure it's locked correctly but says nothing about opening the thing!

Did you try twisting it counterclockwise?

Default hi

Sure did, also tried quarter clockwise then anti clock, but still nothing but the locking and unlocking of entire auto! Euro spec limited edition auto. Might be spec'd for Euro zone only.

Are you saying that you can unlock the entire car just by turning the gas cap? Who came up with that idiotic spec? Sounds like something the bureaucrats in Brussels devised. They didn't want the theives to risk hurting themselves by breaking a window.

Default Brussels

I guess you are right about the nuts at Brussels.
Yes the car locks when the cap turns. Luckily I have sussed it! Quarter turn right press and turn counter clockwise, if you keep turning, even slightly, clockwise after the quarter turn the car just locks itself up.
Maybe after the riots in the UK the Bl....g heart liberals will come to their senses. But I a'int holding my breath on that one!

You mean the gas door or the cap itself?
