Default HELP!!!!!!Oil Pan Drain Plug Head Stripped By Shop

01 Sebring Limited 2.7...The shop stripped the head right off the damn plug. They call and tell me whomever changed the oil last, tightened the plug too tight. We can try to chisel it, but we may crack the pan since it is aluminum...I said to myself...How the hell can you not take a bolt out of an aluminum pan? Crank the son of a bitch, if you strip the threads retap it and put a bigger plug in...I told them to forget it. My question is this...I am not sure what year the engine is that is in my car, it was replaced prior to my purchase...Is it possible that the oil pan has a reverse thread?...Could I leave the original plug and drill a new hole in the pan, and put a new plug in the new hole?

I was online looking at oil pans...325.00 to replace...It has the waffle bottom and a cut out where the oil filter goes...The only pan I found that looked like mine was for an 06?
