Key fob help
If the pcm was properly programmed with the correct VIN and mileage, you should have all the features that the vehicle previously had. And no more. If you had remote start before, you should have it now. If not, then not.
Well the car is fully loaded. The thing is I need a a way to program it to the new pcm which was a plug n play. It started 2 times but dies immediately. Plus there is a red light on the tach that is on which I can only assume is the anti theft system
I am having the same issue. I've been told that the car was setting the alarm its self and there fore I dont deactivate it, because it shouldn't have ever been on. The problem is, even if I unlock it with the key fob it still won't deactivate and won't let me start the car. Other than replacing the computer I am at a loss for what to do.
@Nate Daw Please provide your model and year. and describe what you are seeing. There are actually 2 systems in play here.
The key fob buttons do the lock/unlock functions and control the door alarm functions. For example, if you unlock the door with the key and open the door the alarm will sound. There is no means of disabling the alarm system I am aware of.
The other system is the vtss (vehicle theft security system) which validates the key being used to start the vehicle. If the key fob is not recognized (not been programmed to the vehicle) by vtss the vehicle will start, run 2-3 seconds and shut down. The red dot in the instrument cluster will light. You have 4 attempts to start the vehicle with an invalid key before the vtss prevents the vehicle from even starting. After 4 attempts you typically need a dealer to reactivate the vtss system.

Sorry for the late reply. It is a 1998 Sebring Convertible JXi. The key does not set off the alarm when used to unlock the door but as you said the car will start and run for a few seconds then shut off. It will typically do it three times before it doesn't do anything at all. I have two keys, both of which are original to the car. If the system acts up, I have to let it sit for about an hour and it usually starts back up. Let me know if you need more information and what I can do to fix this issue. much regards, ND.
wondering if you got this problem fixed and if so what worked???
if not and by some miracle you are still trying things ...or i suppose should someone else be reading this than another thing to try is leaving the key in the ignition to the on position for 30 minutes. So long as the new part was properly programmed to your vehicle than your key should sync up and be recognized afterward.

Sorry for the late reply if you go to the rear fuse box and pull fuse 5 and 29 for 30 seconds the car will reset and your key and key fob will work again hope this helps someone save a bot of money
