Default Keyless remote issue on '04 Sebring

I bought a 2004 Sebring Sedan last friday and it only came with 1 remote and 1 key. After paying an arm and 1/3 of my left leg I got another key and remote. The problem is that I am unable to have both my original remote and my new one programmed at the same time. I followed the instructions in the book and can have one or the other programmed but not both. Just to be clear here, I have programmed the new one and it works just fine andI can even reprogram the original one and it works. Just not both at the same time. It originally was a rental car, could something have been disabled, thus preventing renters from programming a new remote? What could be the issue here? ANY help would be appreciated. THANKS!

Mimi

I had the same problem with my 01. Take it to the dealer parts dept. They can program it for you.

I had the same problem. Here is the solution: Go thru the procedure in the owners manual to program the new remote. Then, without exiting the programming mode, immediately program theoriginal remote as if you were programming a second remote per the instructions.
I think what happens is that by programming a remote, you un-program the old one, but if you immediately re-program the old one at the same time, they both work. It worked for me.
